“Sensations”

The tall green grass, growing ever slowly

The deep waters, edging ever closer to the shoreline

A tumble weed rolling, persuaded by a fast paced wind

The rain falling, making everything wet and fresh

The fire burning, blazing away impurities

The fragrance of the rose garden, strong and brilliant

A fresh apple pie, sitting in a lone window while it cools

The acrid smell of sulfur, putrid and inescapable

Smoke, from a candle wick right after it was blown out

Salty mist, permeating on the deck of the old vessel

Too much salt in the spaghettis, the flavor played havoc on my tongue

A lime in the martini, for just a twist

Fruit is my favorite vegetable, sweet to the taste and healthy for the body

When I have an upset stomach, the sweet taste of a spoonful of honey made me feel better

I could only imagine how it would be to eat a snail, a slimy and snot tasting substance

The hinges in the old door creaked with an unrestrained vengeance

The water poring over the side of the mountain and crashing into the rocks below was deafening

So low was her whisper that I had to strain to hear her

The sound of bones breaking were audible, as the large cats tore at their meal

The wind though the tree leaves, always put me in a calm and peaceful place

Each blow that was dealt was like an avalanche, almost too much to take

As I ran my hand along the old musty bookshelf, it didn’t take long to find what I was looking for

Sharp and sudden was my pain after snatching the rose, blood trickling down my forearm

So gentle was her caress that it made me forget to breathe for a time

His fingers flew across the keyboard, touching each character like a note in a digital symphony

Yesterday as I was taking a walk I could not help but notice the great sounds and smells around me. The smell of Sunday afternoon bbq on charcoal grills and smoke coming from the chimney of a nearby house. The park near the house is very clean with very little garbage. It has many large trees and is a great place to spend the afternoon with a glass of sweet tea. Most of the people pick up after their animals, but there is an occasional pile of dog poop lying on the ground. You must be careful when walking back as the cars on the street drive entirely too fast. As I made my way back home I was very tempted to stop in at the convenience store to grab a bag of chocolate candy , but didn’t.

My Story
I was riding my black and white paint horse named duke, down the road one day I smelled a delicious smoky flavor. As I turned the corner to go home, I looked out in an open field and saw a big family gathered together having a BBQ. Riding by I couldn’t believe how many cars sat in the drive way, it looked like the parking lot of most churches on Christmas Sunday. I just passed the house when a tall, lanky man with light brown coconut hair stopped me and asked if I would like to come eat with them, since I had nothing to eat since early that morning and it was afternoon at this point I said, “Sure, I could use something to eat.”

As I sit here on this early Monday morning, wiping the sleep from my eyes, I slowly become acclimated to the things that are around me.  The cool temperature and condensation on the Mt. Dew bottle on my desk.  The noisy hum of the computers and printer, going off every few minutes as people slowly complete the task for the day, the glow of the royal purple marker on the freshly cleaned white board.  As time for contemplation comes around I start to let my mind wander as I always do when it’s this deprived of sleep, when I close my eyes I smell fresh peaches, bananas and melting chocolate, making my mouth water like Niagara Falls.  I can hear people talking and children laughing and fell a slight breeze against my cheek, feeling a splash of salt water spray against my face.  I absolutely love it when my mind takes me to the beach, tanning and being warmed by the wonderfully bright sun, listening to the call and songs of the local birds and to the sound of the ocean itself, the rhythmic beating of a constant drum in sync with the heartbeat of time.  Suddenly the teacher snaps me back to reality with his commanding and booming voice, “Alright, now let’s post this on our class blog.”  I realize that I am sitting in my morning English class with my pajamas on wondering if the amount of kitty hair that I have is greater when I leave in the morning or when I come back.  I reflect on the fact that my hands are going to be cold on the way home because of the steering wheel and have no desire to be in reality, so I loosely grip my pens rubber holding place and go back to letting my mind flow down the river of happiness and imagination.

My Story
Wednesday morning I jumped behind the wheel of my new car. The car was a 1962 Bel Air station wagon, just like the one I had when I was sixteen. I lit up a big chocolate cigar and headed down the gravel road to meet all of my grandparents for breakfast. The cigar stunk like and tasted like burning trash. I threw that hazardous menace right out the window. “Hopefully it burns out in the dirt and doesn’t start a fire” I worried.
Barreling up the rough rocky driveway towards the two story white farm house, called “the breakfast house”, I ran out of gas. The old wagon would barely stay out of the woods as I tried to leave enough room to get around the tank. Despite the smell of leaking gas I fired up a clove cigarette

The Road glistening in the reaming sun
The Tree’s sway in the wind rolling in
People laughing and playing before the storm

The Exhaust fumes drift over to my nose
As Fresh rain smell feels the air
I smell New car scent as I roll my windows up
My Cologne from my shirt hints through the rest
vanilla cinnamon cookies smell so good as I walk into my home

fresh baked Cookies dance on my taste buds
Beer  washing them down
Burger that I just grilled having a burnt taste
I burp and I taste the Waffles I had this morning
The Soda fizzes in my mouth

People talking in the next room
I can hear Credence Clearwater revival coming from a passing car from my window
A Movie plays in the front room as my guests kick back
The Dogs barking at the wind blowing the screen door
The Cats meowing at the guests giving them attention

I touch her soft face as I kiss her lips
In my office I roll the Leather chair away from my desk
Exposing my keyboard so I can shut my computer down
The Wool jacket hung on the back of the chair
I watch The rain rolling off of My car

An odd incident happened to me the other day. It was the middle of the summer when I woke up to a young girl bout the age of 7 knocking on my door with her sea foam colored nails. She carried a popsicle in one hand and a red balloon in the other. I asked her where her parents were and she told me that she ran away because they were being mean and yelling at each other. I had her wait on my porch while I changed into some decent clothes. I put on my favorite leopard fur designed shirt and some old blue jeans. I sprayed my Love Struck body spray on, grabbed a mountain dew and headed outside. I found her swinging her feet back and forth on the edge of the porch listening to the chirping of the morning birds.
“Do your parents know you’re here?” I asked. She answered with her candy colored lips that they didn’t.  “Why did this girl came to my house?” I wondered to myself. She pulled my hand and told me to get up. “I’m hungry!” she said. “what do you want to eat?” I asked while drinking my own soda. “I don’t know, what do you have?” as she headed inside all the while tugging on my hand for me to follow her. I opened up the cupboards to find nothing suitable for a child. “We can go out to eat if you want. There’s a subway down the street and we can get a sandwich.” “I want chocolate! And pizza! And fruit!” she demanded. I was beginning to get tired of this.

I couldn’t wait to start the day. Ive been looking forward to this all winter, and now its here, opening day of Silver Dollar City! I can’t wait to smell the flowers, taste the food, see all the beautiful trees, and hear all the children having fun! We always leave our house about an hour and a half before it opens because we like to be the first ones inside.  Also we get to park our car closer to the park. I always get excited when the tram pulls up that last hill and I can see that first building. It’s a chance for my family to get away from Springfield for at least the day. We get away from all the noise from the television and from the exhaust fumes of the city. We also get to have some really good food! We love the meat and vegetables in the succotash.  Oh yes, none of us can wait to hear that train blow its horn! Then after a fun filled day in the park, we will come home and have a big slice of watermelon. It’s a great way to rehydrate after being in the sun all day.  If it happens to rain, we just get on the water rides more. You might as well roll with the punches!

I put my iphone on a led zeppelin playlist and put in my backpack and took off. I began running and dodging all the people and jumping over every wall that I came to. I imagined my feet were like fingers on a giant keyboard and all I had to do was type. As I ran by the bakery the smell of cookies filled my nose. It surprised me that anyone would be baking cookies at a time like this. when I finally reached my car I slid across the hood on one knee like I was bo duke or something. After slamming the door I noticed an orange flavored HI C in the center consol. I took a big gulp knowing this may be the last time I ever enjoy my favorite drink. I fired the engine smelling the exhaust fumes almost immediately mixed with the smell of the perfume off the jacket the girl from the night before left in my car. There was also the calming smell of the fabric softener that I was told to pick up yesterday. I took off as the men in suits rounded the corner and sped away. But I knew they wouldn’t be far behind. I needed a different car. A faster one at that. Actually, what I needed was a tooth brush. I could taste the morning breath and it was not my favorite smell. I was hungry too. I could really use a cheeseburger and some French fries, and a fresh HI C or a soda. I sped over to the garage where the rest of the cars were. I needed something faster but not too radical as I didn’t want to draw attention to myself…  so I grabbed the keys to the holy grail… the Ferrari 458. I pulled it out the back and ran back inside. I could hear all of the work of the office from typing to whispers and mumbling along with the central air system. My father asked where I was going to which I replied “ ill bring it back in one piece.” I sat down in the driver seat and pulled out my laptop to plug into the cars computer. I figured now was as good of a time as any to try out the custom tunes I had been writing for this car. As my fingers pecked at the keyboard I could hear tire squeals in the distance so I finished over writing the car’s traction control settings and closed my laptop. I eased the car out from behind the garage and to the edge of the road. I could hear them coming. I thought to myself “ I may need a fresh pair of cottons after this” if you know what I mean. I through my Styrofoam cup into the recycle bin outside of the garage that said plastic because I’m just cool like that. I saw them fly around the corner of broadway and fifth. As I made eye contact with the first driver I took off.

Hannah left her apartment and stood on the sidewalk, it was a beautiful day in February and she was on her way to her first day of college. It was the first day of spring semester and she hoped that there would be no surprising spring storms pop up bringing the gusting wind and rain with it. Being the first day of very nice weather, she can finally wear shorts, and Hannah felt more alive than she had in a long time. The sun was out and she was on her way to start her future, she could not wait to sit in class and use her new text books and pens and pencils, and feel the class room computer keys underneath her finger tips as she typed out an essay. One of the busy people rushing their way to work bumped into her on the sidewalk and she realized that she had been standing there in the way. Hannah began to walk down the sidewalk, and felt the cool wind of a breeze tickle her face and at the same time felt the warmth of the sun on her back, it felt so good to know that spring was finally here, and had come early to her small town of Cedarpoint, South Carolina. It seems that everyone knew that spring was finally here; as she passed on house she saw a woman out already tearing up her flower beds and releasing the smells of musty plants and fresh dirt into the air. Hannah, envious of the woman, wished for her own house instead of an apartment so that she could have her own flower beds. As she drew closer to the local University, only a short walk from her own apartment, she passed a dorm and heard a loud combination of men and women talking, and loud music playing. Sometimes Hannah wishes she herself could live in a dorm, but it is just too expensive and she values the fact that she can be by herself, it saves on money and many headaches. Walking past another open door of a house, she smelled food cooking and in response to her growling stomach, realized that she herself had missed breakfast. With a sigh Hannah realized it was going to be a long morning, it would not be until after her first three classes that she would be able to get some food.

As I walked out of my house I pet my sweet dog, Amani goodbye realizing that I had missed

breakfast as my stomach growled at me for being late getting around this morning.  I ran out

to my truck I decided that I missed the color green and all the daisies that I will see when

spring finally gets here.  I love to hear people outside laughing, riding their bikes, just

enjoying each other and the weather.  It helps to take my mind off of the hand I had to hold

of the wife that just lost her husband of 50 years, or the baby crying, or the person who got

burned.  That is a smell that never gets out of your nose.  You never forget it.  Snap back to

reality and grab my phone to see what time it is, although I would rather sit outside in the

rain and think about people laughing.  I throw my book bag into my truck and see that I have

ten minutes to get to school. CRAP!   Once again my day dreaming is going to cost me a

morning of honking horns and me praying there are no police officers in sight.  Once I get to

class I start to calm down a little, grab my ink pen out of   my book bag and get to it.  As

soon as I leave here I will head to work, pray for lunch, and think about what is for dinner.  I

will listen to the sound of people machines beeping to remind me to slow down, stop and

smell the flowers (flowers because rose’s make me think of a funeral), and to take life one

cigarette at a time

I miss the summer right now. I remember fire trucks and ice cream, soccer whistles and wilting tomato plants. I remember cats sneaking under crawl spaces and laying across fences like beaten rugs. I miss the incense and candles on the family altar, sending that deep smoke all around the house in spirals. I remember sandpaper patches and warm cotton sheets. I remember bells and trees and popsicles I miss them all, but mostly I miss the energy. I remember wind chimes blowing on the porch and cloud watching underneath the walnut tree. I remember silk flowers sitting on the kitchen table and cold pasta sitting in the fridge. I miss the tiny pile of wood stacked next to the garage, diminished by the cold seasons. I remember we were too afraid to go near it in case we knocked one off and sent the rest falling like rocks in an avalanche. I remember some mornings we would eat nothing but fruit, usually bananas, but still have plenty of energy for the rest of the day. I miss being in such good health and good spirits. Clouds, walls, cats, fences, trees Flowers, smoke, wood, incense, candles Tomatoes, bananas, cucumbers, pasta, basil Trucks, bells, whistles, falling rocks, chimes Silk, wool, sandpaper, cotton cloth, cold

Cleaning this trash will be easy

The gods are unhappy, this will not suffice
The music beats with the surge of the wind
A devastating storm the gods will send

Unaware their choice was loved by Kane
Liquid fire will kill you all

As I was about to leave to go to the gym my dog, Thor, started yowling an insanely high pitched dog bark. To calm him down I started petting his coarse hair. I grabbed my water bottle after he calmed down, and then realized I had grabbed the wrong one. I put it back and grabbed my FIJI water instead. I quickly grabbed and then looked at my cell phone when I heard it ringing. It was the reminder on my phone telling me I was late for the gym. I ate a banana to get some extra potassium. I then ran back to my room to choose which shoes I wanted to wear, but there were so many to choose. My eyes couldn’t look over that many, so I grabbed a pair and darted out the door.
I got into my car and burned my ass on the leather seat. I liked the smell of leather, but not burnt ass. I was backing out of my drive way and heard car horns. That was one of the joys of living in town. Another was seeing people running everywhere. When I finally arrived to the gym I instantly heard clanking of weights, I smelled sweat and heard the receptionist typing away on her keyboard. She looked up at me when I walked into the lobby, asked for my name, and wrote it down quickly with a pen she was previously holding in her right hand. She entered me into a drawing for something. Who pays attention to those things anyway?
I slowly walked back to the girls locker room and I inhaled a mixture of perfumes. That made me want to throw up. I went through my work out and while I was running I thought about the Reeses and all kinds of chocolate I would treat myself to after I had accomplished my goals. Then I texted my boyfriend while doing leg press- I definitely deserve Japanese steak… it’s just so good! I finished my set and grabbed my hand because it was bleeding but I didn’t know what from. I took a shower, and went to the shake bar. I asked the lady for a delicious protein shake. After I received it I went back home to see Thor.
