I was born and raised on a farm in rural Missouri . I was number three of four girls and enjoyed working on the farm.As a child some of my fondest memories are at my grandparents driving the tractor and playing with the animals. I married young and started a family. After having three children I moved to the Springfield area in the late 1980's. I am now enjoying the " empty nest "as the youngest graduated college in May and bought a house.
I have been blessed with three beautiful grandchildren ranging in ages from eight years to six months. I spend as much time with them as possible, nothing warms my heart more than hearing their laughter. I also enjoy gardening, swimming ,traveling and baseball games.
After being laid off from the post office where I worked as a city letter carrier for nearly five years I have now been forced to make some major life changes. This is my first time in a classroom in nearly thirty five years and I am both excited and fearful. I look forward to learning a new way and working past my fear.
It sounds like you have a wonderful family! Yes I know what you mean by being both excited and fearful, ive been out of school a long time too.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you lost your job at the post office, my friends dad was a postmaster for a very long time and suddenly found himself without a job, I think it is amazingly brave that you are trying to better your life when so many people who can, don't. Keep on keeping on!!
ReplyDeleteKeep at it! It's been a while since I've been in a classroom as well. It's a little harder for us country folks to feel at ease with all these advancements, but I bet we can get the hang of it if we apply as much effort into it as we do our homesteading.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a few other people who are excited and scared along with you. Me included. ;)
It is definitely never to late to start! Congratulations on your grandchildren.

ReplyDeleteI really think I learned how to be a good person from my grandparents. I had 5 sets for a long time. I spent days and weeks with them. There isn't many hay lofts left to play in. Sounds like your a kick ass role model.
As I said to you in class, if you ever need any help with anything that is going on in school please let me know. I would be more then happy to help you. Congrats on seeing the possibilities that you have and pushing to make your life more enjoyable for yourself. You can do it no matter what happens.
ReplyDeleteCongradulations on your family! Even with your current difficulities, it sounds like you are living a wonderful life with so many beautiful people in it. I so hope I'm as lucky as you someday.
ReplyDeleteIts good that you have worked past your fears and are coming to class. Hopefully you will be be able to go above and beyond in school and be able to have a career you are comfortable in until you are able to retire. Its good you are enjoying your life with your grandchildren, now you get the house for yourself.
