I am from home

The youngest of many
I am from chaos
A busy city
Of politics and corruption
Monuments and law
A plethora of culture
I am from a different point of
view
A musical place
With a love for the arts
And an insatiable thirst
For literature
I am from everywhere
A traveling clan
Wandering lands
A never ending search
Consistently restless
Unable to stay for long
Where I will go from here
Only time will tell
Intro
My name is Stephanie Edwards. Most people call me Steph. I
was born and raised in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area, so Springfield is
still a little new to me. I moved out here in September with my oldest brother
and his girlfriend. My other brother and my parents are back in Virginia but I
have a good bit of family out here as well. The one question I’ve been
repeatedly asked is why did I move out here of all places? Besides the obvious
family and school, the difference in living expenses between here and the east
coast are drastic. This made it much easier for me to be able to afford to go
to school and work out here.
I spend
a large amount of my free time reading and writing. My parents encouraged me to start reading and
writing and young age so it’s something that has always stuck with me. I also
enjoy listening to and playing music. The guitar has been a favorite hobby of
mine for a little over nine years now. I’ve accumulated a nice collection of
guitars since then, but I’ve still got a few more to add to it.
I
am currently double majoring in philosophy and theology, though; I don’t think I’ll
end up making a career out of it. These are simply the subjects that I am
interested in studying at the moment. It’s become a sort of family trait to
take an interest in philosophy and theology, along with a few other related
topics. So, studying these subjects always seemed like a natural course since
the material always came very easily to me.

Just like it was when I was kid, it seems to never get any easier to wake up and get out of bed to get ready fo school. Don't know what it is but it has always been a challenge. During the days that I don't have class, I can wake up super early without a problem, and without an alarm not to mention. Even when I have to work early in the morning, it's still easier than school days. I like working though. The job, my co-workers (fo the most part), and I get payed. People tell me to just look at school as a job. They tell me to think as if I'm getting payed; Then they say something really cliche, "payed in knowledge". I understand that knowledge is one of the best things to have, and yes that knowledge will turn into a much better paying job than what I currently have. But come on, I need the money now, and the only place i'm getting that from is my job, not school. Don't get me wrong, I am going to keep going to class fo the whole purpose of getting a career that pays good but, it doesn't mean it will change the way I feel about it. Sometimes I look back and think to myself, if only I had finished high school, then I could have got into college sooner and would have already been done with it all..

Hello my name is Cameron, and I am a first time college student attending Ozarks Technical Community College. I am beginning an associate of Biological Clinical Sciences. Upon completion of which I hope to go into the Nursing field.
I am 23 years old and have lived in the mid-west most of my life. I graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2008 after completing 4 years of intense drum line practice sessions. I enjoy camping, bicycling, hiking, and usually anything that involves being outside as much as possible. I enjoy an eclectic taste in music, but my favorite genre is jazz/and or blues. I married my best friend and soul mate on August 17, 2012, and have had nothing but smiles, laughter and a sense of purpose for my life since then.
We aspire to move to the American northwest, more specifically Montana, after the completion of my studies, and secure a job in the medical field, whereupon I can begin to start my nursing career and have the Rocky Mountains as my playground.
We are currently trying to incorporate a lifestyle called “minimalism” but find it difficult to part with some material possessions that we do not necessarily need, however we are working diligently to overcome this obstacle. So that whenever the time comes to re-locate it will be more cost effective, and feel more like a fresh start. Ultimately I am excited to have been given the opportunity to further my education in hopes to obtain a career instead of just working at another dead-end job.
Max Page - intro
Hi everyone my name is Max but you can call me whatever you want if it helps you to remember me. I am here because I want to be a nurse, but who knows where I will go from there. I have worked at Mercy for almost a year, nights and every weekend but the shift differential is good enough to make working nights worth it. I deal with surgical instrumentation post surgery. Long story short - I see more blood and body parts in one shift than most of you will probably see in years. I decontaminate, rebuild and resterilize this equipment so it may be used again.
Jessica Chapman - Intro
Hello, my name is Jessica Chapman. I was born right here in Springfield, Missouri. Shortly after the 15th of September in 1993, I was whisked away to a small little farm town called Mtn. Grove. I spent my entire childhood helping my grandmother in the garden, riding horses with my friends, and running 5ks with my mom. When it came time for me to be starting high school my parents moved me and my three younger siblings to Republic. I’ve always been fascinated with learning new things and pushing to find my limits in everything I do.
Ever since I was able, running was my passion. It’s one that, as I mentioned before, I share with my mother. At 45 years of age she was still able to outrun me in my prime. At 15 I was able to run a five and a half minute mile. Quite an accomplishment for a 15 year old girl. My mom was never hard on me or pushed me to run when I was unwilling, but she always encouraged me to give it my all. I’ve competed in over fifty 5ks, 3.1 mile races for those who don’t know, a handful of 10ks and one half marathon. I ran track and cross country in high school and excelled. My freshman year in track was by far my best. I competed in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, the 4x200m relay, and the 4x400m relay and was training to run my first marathon. So I’m sure you are probably thinking, “wow this girl really likes to gloat...”, well…it’s all leading to a point. My senior year, 2 weeks into cross country season, I all of a sudden woke up one morning at 4:45 a.m. ready to go to practice before school, and I was practically unable to move my right leg and had an immense amount of pain in both hips. My dad took off work that day and took me to the emergency room completely unknowing as to what could have happened. After numerous different specialists and an even more amount of tests, they had concluded that I had Anterior Superior Iliac Spine Apophasis’s. The muscles in my hips had started to tear away from the bone and fluid was building in my hip sockets. Needless to say I wasn’t able to run anymore. I spent the next 2 weeks and a wheelchair and the 10 after that on crutches trying to prevent movement so I could heal. I went through months of physical therapy and was told after the fact that my injury had resulted from running at such an intense level while I was young, preventing my growth plates from forming the way they should have. I run every now and again but to this day my hips still cause me minor pain. The life lesson I got out of this was that even if you give something your all and work every spare second for something you want, the outcome may not be what you had in mind. If this hadn’t happened to me I would have been going to college somewhere else instead of here really close to all of my family and my boyfriend of over 2 years, Cruz.
There wasn’t much to my teenage years except for sports and school. I graduated in 2012 and this is my first semester of college. I took the first semester off to work and save up some money. Currently employed at Arby’s off of Republic road and Pizza Hut in Republic, I am here to complete the Associate of Arts transfer degree so I can transfer to MSU to major in Sports Medicine.

'Brittany Marie' Bertelsen - INTRO
PART I
An Intro to My Intro:
Before I begin, I would like to point out my name again. My name is 'Brittany Marie' Bertelsen. Many people take mistake on this though, and assume that my first name is simply Brittany. It's not. It's Brittany Marie. Now, if you call me Brittany it's perfectly fine. I will respond. I just wanted to make sure it was understood that my name is Brittany Marie and not Brittany.

PART II
An Ironic Start:
My birth took place in Jacksonville, Florida. When I was a toddler, I would run around the house stripping down to my diaper, stopping and smiling at everyone before letting out a loud giggle and finding the next person to laugh with. Also, I did not start speaking until I was four. All three of these things are so peculiar about me because I have a very hard time enjoying warm weather, I almost always button my shirt up to its highest, and I hold a serious rambling problem. I still smile and laugh all of the time, though. I don't think that will ever change.
Growing Up:
My Dream:
When I grow up, I want to be a Costume Designer. I love painting pictures in my mind for all the characters I meet in plays and books. To make that real, and help create and define these people, is a possibility I just cannot gaze away from.
Ethan Knapp - Intro
Hello, I'm Ethan. Born and raised here in the Ozarks in a small town called Cabool. If you were un-aware it existed I assure you, you haven't missed much. With a population not exceeding 2,300 it is a great place to stop for gas. When I graduated in May of 2012 I took the fall semester off and moved to Columbia MO with plans to begin school there in the spring semester, but found columbia just was not the place I wanted to be. I worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts while I was there and continued doing so when I moved to the Springfield area.
Of all my interests music is what I am most passionate about. I was raised on it, taught by it, and enjoy playing it. My favorite band is Led Zeppelin. I also love The Black Keys, All Time Low, Jack White, Fall Out Boy, Iron and Wine, and so many more. I have a very diverse interest in music as there are many kinds of artists I like to listen to, but relating to other people through music is a challenge for me because my views surrounding the subject are a little deep, or out there I suppose. For instance, I do not believe in musical genres. I only hear two kinds of music: music that touches the mind and music that touches the heart. Then there is great music with the ability to do both. However if it fails to do either it's probably crap.
I am a huge comic book nerd. Spider-Man is my BRRROOOOOO but I love anything Marvel. I am a big video game junky, or rather a connoisseur. Like I mentioned earlier I work for O'Reilly's so I am a huge car guy. I drive a 1994 Mustang GT convertible that I have had since I was 16. It's silver and super loud. You can't miss it.
Similar to music I try to understand cars on a deeper level. In my opinion anyone can build a small-block Chevy, but when you can discern what pistons to use with a 60cc combustion chamber to reach a compression ratio of 10:1, or how much boost the stock rotating assembly can withstand in a 5.7L Hemi, you can go so much farther with it.
Besides all of that though I'm just your average dude always getting into small town shenanigans with my buddies and working to make ends meet. I may seem quite un-approchable to most, but I assure you I'm always willing to lend a hand when it's needed. Having trouble getting the pics up right now #MacProblems.

I am 35 years old. I went to school in Marshfield while living in Elkland. I dropped out of SMSU and OTC to work and party. Not too smart. I was lucky enough in 2002 to have a son born. The odd part of that was my 20 year old wife had just died. She died at St Johns after a car wreck. She had been gone less than 6 months and I was in a new relationship with a baby on the way. After Elias was born my boss helped me buy and sell a house. I fixed the house up and was able to make over $20,000. With that money I started my own construction company. I specialized in seamless gutter. Everything was good until the economy went bad and my relationship fell apart after 7 years. I had too much time on my hands and started hanging out on the west side of Springfield way too much. All that led to me moving back home and rarely seeing my son. I drove my mother insane and disappointed mostly everyone. My life was up and way down for too long. Luck struck again. I met a beautiful 19 year old woman who was pissing her life away also. She couldn't believe the oportunities I was wasting. I felt the same about her. She had a perfect 2 year old son named Matthew. We three bonded as a family quickly. Slowly Corina and I straightened our selves out. Both our boys are around a lot. They are brothers now. Corina works 2 jobs and goes to OTC. I work and almost 20 years later I am back. We're buying and remodeling a house together. When we're not camping. floating, doing kid stuff, or working we're driving each other crazy about some stupid shit. Anyway hopefully school will help me with a decent career, be a good dad, and keep me from being too out dated.
Landon Gardner
My name is Landon Gardner, I'm 18 and this is my first semester at college, I am attending OTC to get my associates in teaching. I graduated high school in the spring of 2012, I did not attend college last semester because I was burned out on school, but I've had a long enough break and I'm ready to get back and pursue my education, and become a teacher.
Some of my hobbies and interest include hunting, fishing, baseball, and riding horses. I played baseball in high school, I want to be a baseball coach as well as a teacher. I am a huge Cardinals fan I try to catch a little bit of every game I can. I ride horses all the time when its warm enough to ride that is. This past summer I broke horses for a living. I love hunting there isn't much that I don't hunt, deer, turkey, rabbits, and I fish every chance I get. I also like going on float trips, camping out with friends, and having bonfires.
Other things about me I have had two open heart surgeries the first when I was a year old the second when I twelve. I was born with a condition called transposition of the great arteries. I also had a whole in my heart.

Sarah Jackson - Intro
Hello Everyone! As you know is my name is Sarah, I was born in Illinois and I lived there for two years before moving to Missouri. My parents are from southern Missouri and that is why we moved back. I also have two brothers, Cole who is sixteen years old, and Samuel who is twelve years old. They are also free if anyone wants to take one!! My parents are still together after twenty-one years and have we have all had are ups and downs but we are a pretty close knit family. Right now I am in my second semester of college, and I am working on a getting my general eds. to become a teacher, my preferred field is Elementary or upper High School. I love teaching a child something and seeing them understand it and at the end they can remember what I have taught them and apply it. I used to teach Swimming Lessons to people of all ages, and it was an amazing feeling seeing what each kid could accomplish after only a few short weeks, and I still work with children every day in my local YMCA childcare; I also work in the indoor pool as a lifeguard part time as well. I have also found the love of my life last year, though we have only been going out a short amount of time, we love each other very much and have decided to take things slow while we are still in school! And I know what you guys are all thinking, pshh they are to young! and It'll never last, but you know what? Anything can happen and I am willing to take that bet.

Allen Reeves intro
Hi! I'm Allen Reeves. I'm a 43 year old single dad of 2 little girls. I've had a life full of different careers and now I'm excited to start a new one. When I finished high school, I went straight into the Army. I spent 6 years in the military, 2 in the reserves, and 4 full time active duty. My enlistment was over right after the first gulf war and i decided to try civilian life. Luckily, i recieved alot of experience driving large vehicles in the Army so I became a cross country truck driver. I enjoyed that for about 8 years, but then it became a little boring after seeing the same roads over and over. After driving trucks, I decided to see what it was like to work in a convenient store. I actually loved that job and did very well. I was promoted to a supervisor for the whole chain within 2 and a half years. After that, I became disenchanted with the stress to pay ratio, on call 24-7 and didnt feel I was being rewarded enough, so i started working at a call center. The call center is ok but ive decided to go back to school and open my options. Im to a point in my life that I just want to give my 2 girls more than they have now. One of them is getting ready to start kindergarten in the fall and i figured me going to school will also be a good example to them.
Cylene Wallace - Intro

I was born and raised on a farm in rural Missouri . I was number three of four girls and enjoyed working on the farm.As a child some of my fondest memories are at my grandparents driving the tractor and playing with the animals. I married young and started a family. After having three children I moved to the Springfield area in the late 1980's. I am now enjoying the " empty nest "as the youngest graduated college in May and bought a house.
I have been blessed with three beautiful grandchildren ranging in ages from eight years to six months. I spend as much time with them as possible, nothing warms my heart more than hearing their laughter. I also enjoy gardening, swimming ,traveling and baseball games.
After being laid off from the post office where I worked as a city letter carrier for nearly five years I have now been forced to make some major life changes. This is my first time in a classroom in nearly thirty five years and I am both excited and fearful. I look forward to learning a new way and working past my fear.

Kathryn Phillips - Intro
I was born and raised right here in Springfield Missouri, and I attended high school at Central High School. My family is my greatest accomplishment. They are my everything. I learned early in life that without family nothing that you earn or accomplish really matters. I have 4 of the most amazing children (3 boys and 1 girl) that have ever graced the earth. I also have 2 very patient, and sweet daughter-in-laws and 3 dogs (2 English Bulldogs and 1 English mastiff). I am living my dream of going back to school. I always wanted to go back to school but my mom job, real job, and wife job didn't leave me with enough hours in the day to attend school. Now that the last one has graduated, I have the time and the opportunity to be here. Through watching my boys all join the military and my daughter win her fight against cancer I learned so much. Most importantly compassion, strength, and to approach anything (no matter how big or small) with dignity and grace.
I work in the emergency room at Mercy Springfield, and have been there since...well I think the first brick was laid. I love my job, and because of it, I am able to attend school and have extra support (and some awesome tutors). Contrary to belief, I am not going to school to be a nurse. I am in studies for Criminal Sociology. With that degree I will be able to stay at Mercy as a social worker until I receive my doctorate in Criminal Sociology. I hope to one day make a difference in the world (at least Greene County) with my degree.
I am not computer literate at all, so I apologize for not being able to post any pictures of my family.

Right after high school instead of going
to college I decided to join the Marine Corps, I've been in for 4 ½ years now
and I’m a corporal. I've been to 6 different countries and I've done sniper training,
riot training, task force military police, turret gunner on helicopters, and machine gunner on convoys, to
supply state side. I have loved every last minute of it, but along with that I've had to stay away from family and the ones I love the most. I was married/divorced when I
first joined but that didn't last long, but I have a 5 year old daughter from that
whole mess and she is simply amazing. I have a real passion for building anything
and everything I can get my hands on. I’m a Chevrolet guy through and through, I
currently own a 78 Camaro and I have a .060 350 SBC I am building with my
father that will be put in the car this spring.

Jessica Nelson- intro
My name is Jessica Nelson I am 18 and I was born in Marshaltown Iowa but was too young to remember anything. I grew up here in Marshfield. I have always enjoyed being outdoors and playing with my older brother now almost 22. I was more of a boy picking up toads and snakes and whatever I could get ahold of including turtles which I have as pets. I also have a little dog names Delilah: she is six. I have a cat named Vincent which I got last summer. I live with my mom who got separated from my dad about two years ago. My only sibling is my brother. Growing up with an older brother to pick on you can be pretty rough.
My love for animals is so crazy that i dont even have a favorite animal, theres just too many to love! I am studying to become a Wildlife Biologist so I can be always close to animals. For my hobbies I enjoy playing all sorts of video games. Most of my time goes into World of Warcraft. I also enjoy drawing but usually cant get much done because I'm a procrastinator even when it comes to things I like. My favorite food is a mango. I am pretty open to try just about any fruits. The biggest trip I have been on is when I went with my mom and drove down to Georgia without stopping. This spring break I'm going to Texas. My favorite season is summer. If its below 70 degrees you can bet im cold. My favorite color is orange and pink. My favorite artist is Nickelback. I'm the kind of person who will try things just to say i did it.

A Snap Shot Of My Life
I currently work for Heim Young & Associates, and I'm attending college to work toward recieving my AAS degree in Business and Marketing. I work full time, and I attend school full time. My schedule tends to be a little bit crazy!
I worked for Andrews Custom Muffler and Brake for a year, and when the owners sold the business the name of the shop changed. The name of the car shop is now Bohannon Auto Services, and you might see me in their commercial on KY3. I didn't do just front office work. I was a sales person, but in order to sell a part on a car- I had to know how to fix it. A lot of people don't learn this about me, but I really do enjoy working on cars, and I talk about them often.
In my free time you can find me helping with Relay For Life and CASA. The title I took on with Relay for Life this year is Youth Engagement Coordinator. It is my job to help get younger people involved with finding a cure for cancer and to inform the younger generations how to prevent cancer.
When I'm not working, volunteering, or going to school you can find me running the streets of my hometown Willard, Missouri. I love to run, and am now in the process of training for a 10k. I enjoy playing with and training my Pitbull, Thor, who is a year and eight months old. I also enjoy spending time with my family and boyfriend, Josh. I like to hunt. I like to fish. I love to play sports, and I love the outdoors.
Anthony Franklin - Introduction
Hello,
Well lets start with something basic. I am 18 living on my own and I moved here from Kansas City. While in high school I was highly involved with extra curricular activities mostly involving sports. The sports that I was involved in were football, golf, track, baseball, wrestling, and cross-country. I have been to state for multiple reasons and have been successful in all. My state awards include entomology 2nd place, cross-country 3rd place and 9th in my weight class for wrestling. I plan on becoming a RN in the next two years. That is just a rung in the ladder for me. The pinnacle I plan to reach is far superior.
In consummation of school I would like to be a neurosurgeon. I first fell in love with the med field when my father went to OTC to get his RN when I was around the age of seven. He would bring me text books at the end of the semester for me to read over. The one I found the most interesting was his anatomy book. One can assume I was more inclined to read that book because of the pictures. You would not erroneous It did grasp my attention what aided in the study of the pictures was my love for reading. When i was a child it engrossed my life and till this day it still consumes a lot of my day. I studied that book , but the nervous system captured my attention the greater than the rest.
When I was young I pondered many questions I still have about society and it's mannerisms. I pondered many of the questions psychologist ask now. I also love working with my hands, so I put my loves together and neurosurgery is really what i am passionate about. I used my job to my advantage to help further my interest in the med field. I have befriended a retired neurosurgeon who bequeath his neuro-anatomy books and others to me. I hope to learn a lot in this class and it is indubitable that I will. :)

Erin Walker-Intro
Hi everyone!
I haven't been a student for quite a while but I'm excited to be here. In the years since high school I honestly haven't done anything to further my education until now. I think this was mainly due to bills that required paying, not a disinterest in learning. I've always had a desire to learn and better myself. English and science have always been my best subjects, so I have my fingers crossed that college will be something similar to riding a bike where those are concerned. I'm not very tech savvy but I have a facebook page and I participate in a few internet forums, so I know how these things work already. Anything much more complicated than that and I'm in hot water.
My personality is sometimes hard to understand, but I am easy to get along with. I'm very practical and methodical about most things. I'm also very grounded and down to earth. I have phases where I will be incredibly idealistic, but my head always comes down out of the clouds eventually. My interests are numerous but include; gardening, walking, hunting, skin care, botany, juicing, and cooking. I live in the city in an apartment, but I still do a little container gardening these days. I have a particular fascination with carnivorous plants, but I don't currently grow any due to a lack of space and time. I am very interested in the DIY culture, especially where personal care products are concerned. It's a hobby that requires a lot of research, experimentation and chemistry. If anybody has an interest, hit me up with any questions and I'll point you in the right direction. Other than all that, I'm a very physical person. I'm not necessarily into sports, but I do like yoga and hiking, which I need to do more of. I also try not to talk about religion or politics in polite company because it has the potential to make the company considerably less polite.
I'll have to put up a pic sometime later. Nice to meet everyone!
Jonny Woods - Introduction
My name is Jonny, and this is the first class, on my first day in college. I've been in the work force since I was 14, and haven't really had a decent chance at getting an education for a long time. Bills need to be paid, and family come's first, so on and so forth. Now it's my turn.
I woke up one morning not so long ago, after a particularly hard day at work and thought to myself "This can't possibly be what I am going to spend the rest of my life doing". So I decided to change the rules. Just because no one in my family has graduated from college, doesn't mean I can't. This is my chance to make something of myself, and you can bet your shoe laces that no one, and nothing is going to stand in my way.
On a lighter note, I have been amateur writing for some time now, and am looking forward to challenging myself with classes like this. Call me a dork if you like, but I have always enjoyed reading. In doing so (quite frequently), I feel that I have gained a decent understanding of what it is to write. I'm hoping that you all are as interested in this class as I am, and I am looking forward to reading what you guys have to say as well. Until next time-------Jonny.

I don't have any digital picture of myself just yet, until then I thought this comic was perfect for an Introduction. :D
